About The Position

The Nursing Assistant Float Pool provides patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatching services, and documenting services. The assistant may serve as an Observer for patients assessed to require constant observation, either in person or through remote video monitoring, to maximize patient safety. The position also performs general receptionist and clerical duties that support efficient nursing-unit operations and documents care in the electronic medical record.

This part-time position is based at Farmington Hills Hospital and works night hours from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am on variable days, including every fourth weekend. The hospital is a Level II trauma center, a base teaching hospital for Michigan State University, and a Magnet-designated facility for nursing excellence.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate Corewell customer service standards and behaviors in all aspects of job performance.

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
• Current CNA certification.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Basic computer knowledge.
