About The Position

Adventist Health Mendocino County is seeking a Nursing Assistant for a part-time, day shift position. Located in a scenic coastal region known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities, the role involves providing clerical support to the nursing team and direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, maintaining medical records, responding to patient requests, providing information, and performing routine patient care tasks. The position also involves technical skills such as managing feeding tubes, administering therapies, taking vital signs, and assisting with infection control measures.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Nice To Haves

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • One year's relevant experience: Preferred
  • Unit Secretary training course: Preferred
  • Experience in a hospital or medical office setting: Preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
  • Phlebotomy Certification: Preferred
  • Audiometry and vision training or have a certificate from CHDP: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greets and directs visitors.
  • Prepares and maintains medical records.
  • Responds to patient requests for assistance.
  • Provides information to patients, families, and physicians.
  • Provides clerical support to nursing team as required.
  • Performs clerical duties including routing patient reports.
  • Assists in scheduling patient procedures, assembling charts, and maintaining patient flow.
  • Provides personal nursing care under the direction of a licensed nurse.
  • Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living.
  • Provides assessment data to Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Performs routine assigned tasks and reports patients’ status and concerns to the RN.
  • Provides personal nursing care to the medical/surgical patient population under the direction of a licensed nurse.
  • Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living including, assisting with nutrition and hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning devices and restraints, and restorative care.
  • Performs a variety clerical duties, which include but are not limited to routing patient reports as appropriate.
  • Performs data collection and maintains data on an ongoing basis.
  • Collects data and performs audits.
  • Ascertains flow of patients admission/transfers.
  • Assists in scheduling patient procedures.
  • Assembles charts.
  • Performs tasks associated with technical skills including, pyloric, jejunostomy, gastrostomy tube feedings, warm and cold therapies and finger stick capillary blood testing.
  • Takes vital signs including, pulse and blood pressure.
  • Performs tasks associated with infection control including, ostomy appliances and output from drainage devices.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
