About The Position

The Nursing Assistant supports the care team by providing age-specific, compassionate care and helping maintain a safe environment for patients and families. Working under direction, the Nursing Assistant contributes to the care team’s goals for the patient, shift, department, and organization. Communication with the health care team about patient progress, concerns, questions, and problems is an essential part of the role. Duties and required clinical skills may vary according to the assigned care unit. This position is assigned to the Medical/Surgical and Orthopedic Unit at North Memorial Health and is on-site.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Oral and written English proficiency sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Basic computer operation skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer; online BLS certifications are not accepted.
• Successful completion of a Minnesota-administered nursing assistant certification exam, or completion of one semester of clinical rotation within an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the care team in providing age-specific, supportive, compassionate care.
• Help ensure a safe environment for patients and families.
• Work with the care team under direction to meet patient, shift, department, and organizational goals.
• Communicate patient progress, concerns, questions, and problems to the health care team.
• Perform unit-specific clinical skills as required by the assigned customer care unit.
