This position assists the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. The Nursing Assistant will measure and document vital signs and patient data, perform purposeful rounding, and participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Responsibilities also include collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. The role involves assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and potentially performing tasks such as removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The Nursing Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles.
