About The Position
The Nursing Assistant position is for the Progressive Care Unit, working part-time from 7 PM to 7 AM. This role requires the individual to perform designated tasks in providing age-appropriate patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Nursing Assistant will also be required to cover duties as a Unit Secretary and undergo cross-training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nursing License (CNA) preferred
- Six months experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred
Responsibilities
- Obtains and documents reported height and weighs patient on admission and documents
- Turns and positions patients every 2 hours as indicated, using proper body mechanics
- Assists and promotes activity, ambulation, up in chair and other activities as ordered
- Assists patients with personal hygiene, including showering, bathing, shaving, shampooing, perianal-care, catheter care and oral care
- Takes and records vital signs accurately within established time frame
- Consistently performs hourly rounds to ensure patient safety and promote customer satisfaction
- Cover duties as a Unit Secretary and undergo cross-training
