The Nursing Assistant will assist the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. This role involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Nursing Assistant will perform purposeful rounding, communicate patient needs to the RN, and participate in the admission, transfer, and discharge process. Responsibilities also include collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining nursing area stock, and cleaning equipment. The position requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, assisting with nutritional needs, and maintaining skin integrity. Depending on site/unit requirements and under RN direction, duties may include removing IVs, providing post mortem care, and performing bladder scans. The role emphasizes practicing within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile/aseptic procedures, and demonstrating age-appropriate patient care skills.
