The Nursing Assistant - Observation/Medical Surgical role is a full-time position on the night shift, working 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. This role requires working assigned holidays and every other weekend (Friday and Saturday). The position involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, performing purposeful rounding, participating in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, and completing various errands. The role requires patient positioning and transporting duties, assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and potentially removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans under RN direction. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The Nursing Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development.
