About The Position
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and support from admission through discharge. This role focuses on assisting with basic medical, personal, and rehabilitation needs while ensuring patient safety and comfort. This role is essential in delivering hands-on patient care, supporting nurses, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and efficient healthcare environment.
Requirements
- Active Rhode Island Nursing Assistant license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to care for patients across all age groups and backgrounds
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma
- At least 1 year of experience as a Nursing Assistant
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility)
- Support rehabilitation activities and patient ambulation
- Perform basic nursing assistant skills per RI Department of Health standards
- Observe, document, and report patient conditions and changes to RN
- Maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Maintain infection control and safety standards
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or faulty equipment
- Assist in emergency/code situations when needed
- Work closely with RNs to prioritize and organize patient care
- Contribute to a team-focused, patient-centered environment
