The Nursing Assistant demonstrates competency in the physical care of the patient according to AHF/unit patient care standards. This includes personal care for all body systems, pre- and post-operative/procedure care, post-mortem care, assisting with patient monitoring, ambulation, transfers, and transportation. The role also involves implementing admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, utilizing effective communication and interpersonal skills, and maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit cleanliness. The Nursing Assistant is expected to demonstrate self-growth and accountability, participate in quality assurance, and maintain competency in complex care activities as determined by unit need. They will also assist in achieving unit quality scores.
