About The Position

This role provides direct patient care in an assisted living setting, focusing on personal hygiene, daily living activities, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. The Nursing Assistant works collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure patient well-being and efficient unit operations.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provides for patient's personal hygiene, including bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and assists with showers.
Assists in preparing the unit and patient room/bed for patient accommodation.
Assists and accompanies patients during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures with compassion and understanding.
Takes and records patient vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, intake-output) and documents information.
Reports unusual incidents or changes in patient condition or behavior to appropriate personnel.
Assists patients with daily living activities (e.g., bed bath, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, back rubs, linen freshening) and general care (e.g., positioning, pre- and post-operative care, assisting with bed pan use).
Prepares patients for meals, serves food, and feeds patients when needed.
Transports patients to and from designated areas of the hospital in a caring, considerate, expedient, and professional manner, ensuring identification bracelets are in place.
Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy and delivers them to the nurse or places them in a secure location.
Answers patient call lights promptly and assists with personal hygiene and other activities of daily living.
Maintains an attractive, comfortable, and safe environment for patients, paying attention to room cleanliness, ventilation, lighting, and safety.
Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic health care environment by cleaning rooms and equipment, preparing for sterilization and disinfection, and promptly reporting damaged equipment.
Handles linen and supplies efficiently and properly.
Provides input for end-of-shift reports and CIS documentation.
Participates in unit quality assurance programs.
Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources prudently and efficiently.
Strives to promote the quality and efficiency of personal performance through participation in staff educational programs, continuing education courses, and specialized skill training.
Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests and procedures as directed by a Registered Nurse.
Collects patient specimens and transports them to the lab when necessary.
Assists with patient rehabilitation under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Runs inter-departmental errands (e.g., transporting lab specimens, picking up medications) for nursing personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
