About The Position

The Nursing Assistant works full-time on the 3rd shift in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), a 20-bed unit that provides 24-hour central telemetry monitoring. The PCU cares for patients from age 16 through geriatric with moderate or potentially severe physiologic instability who require technical support but not necessarily artificial life support. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or another licensed care team member, the Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and related support by performing selected nursing procedures and routine duties that assist medical and nursing personnel with the examination, treatment, and care of patients. The role also supports unit coordination and maintains supplies, equipment, and a safe patient care environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of the first year of a Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
Basic Life Support certification; applicants who do not already have it have 30 days from their hire date to provide proof of completion.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, toileting, feeding, and positioning.
Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, weights, specimens, and other patient data.
Perform delegated clinical procedures such as blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and venipuncture.
Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and procedures.
Perform clerical and unit coordination duties, including handling patient charts and physician orders.
Maintain supplies and equipment and help ensure a safe patient care environment.
Respond to patient needs and emergency situations while providing compassionate, respectful care.
