About The Position

Regions Hospital is hiring a compassionate, collaborative, and committed Nursing Assistant who is driven to provide excellent care to our patients on the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit! When you start your career as a Nursing Assistant you will receive 2-3 weeks of training with our nursing education to learn more about our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills and restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills. Being a part of the nursing team at Regions means you will use your technical and people skills to positively impact the type of care our patients receive and overall experience.

Requirements

  • Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program within the last five years or
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry or
  • 6 months of acute care or long-term care setting as a Nursing Assistant or Emergency Room Technician within the last five years or
  • Completion of one clinical rotation in a RN/LPN program within the past 12 months
  • A current Basic Life Support CPR certification from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. (Demonstrates at the time of employment and every 2 years thereafter).
  • Ability to attend HealthPartners' Nursing Orientation (Monday-Friday from 8am-430pm) including reliable transportation to the Bloomington location on Tuesday and Wednesday during orientation week.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrates basic computers skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position.
  • Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/ family preferences.
  • Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • High school degree of equivalent
  • Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting
  • Nursing assistant certification
  • Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the patient with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Providing patient care treatments which include but are not limited to, discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output all in a safe, timely, and effective matter.
  • Regularly collects specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose at the direction of the nurse.
  • Responds to patient call lights and requests
  • Communicates with patients and visitors
  • Assist the nurses with procedures as requested.
  • Documents and charts in our electronic health system.
