The Nursing Assistant will assist the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. This role involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Nursing Assistant will also perform purposeful rounding, participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and ensure patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly. Responsibilities include collecting specimens, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Additional tasks may involve assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, providing special patient supplies, and potentially removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans under RN direction. The role requires adherence to infection prevention policies and the ability to provide age-appropriate care.
