This position assists the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. The role involves measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The nursing assistant performs purposeful rounding, communicates observations to the RN, and handles patient positioning and transporting duties. Responsibilities also include tasks related to nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, collecting specimens, and adhering to infection prevention policies. The role requires coordinating tests and treatments, maintaining knowledge of hospital systems for ordering supplies and processing charges, and facilitating communication. The nursing assistant must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care and possess the ability to assess and interpret patient status based on age-specific needs.
