About The Position

At New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist, certified nursing assistants thrive at the bedside as invaluable care providers, serving as critical points of contact for patients and their families. This role involves partnering with Nurses, Technicians, and other staff to provide comfort and caring, infuse energy and hospitality into a patient's day, and keep fast-paced environments running smoothly. The Nursing Assistant provides compassionate patient focus and performs select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse, aiming to improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification from an approved, accredited Nurse Assistant training program or current Enrollment in a BSN program & completion of at least 1 clinical rotation
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of experience as a nurse’s aide in a hospital

Responsibilities

  • Be an Advocate, a Care Taker, a Friend to Patients
  • Serve as critical points of contact for patients and their families
  • Monitor blood pressure and temperature of patients
  • Ensure the delivery of meals and safe transport
  • Infuse energy and hospitality into a patient's day
  • Provide comfort and caring as a certified nurse’s aide at NYP-keeping our fast-paced environments running smoothly
  • Provide compassionate patient focus and perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse
  • Improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment
  • Measure and record temperatures, pulses, respiration and blood pressure
  • Float to all units-in the hospital such as - Med-Surg- Critical Care-Psychiatry- Emergency Department or where needed
