About The Position

New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is seeking a certified nursing assistant for a full-time day position in their Float Pool. This role is crucial for patient care, serving as a primary point of contact for patients and their families, and partnering with nurses and technicians. The Nursing Assistant will provide compassionate patient-focused care, perform select duties under the supervision of a registered nurse, and contribute to a safe, clean, and healthy environment. The position requires floating to various units within the hospital, including Med-Surg, Critical Care, Psychiatry, and the Emergency Department. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification from an approved, accredited Nurse Assistant training program or current Enrollment in a BSN program & completion of at least 1 clinical rotation
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skill
  • Live within a commutable distance to NYP

  • At least 1 year of experience as a nurse’s aide in a hospital

Responsibilities

  • Act as an advocate, care taker, and friend to patients
  • Serve as a critical point of contact for patients and their families
  • Partner with Nurses, Technicians and other staff
  • Monitor blood pressure and temperature of patients
  • Ensure the delivery of meals and safe transport of patients
  • Infuse energy and hospitality into a patient's day
  • Provide comfort and caring as a certified nurse’s aide
  • Keep fast-paced environments running smoothly
  • Provide compassionate patient focus
  • Perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse
  • Improve the patient experience
  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment
  • Measure and record temperatures, pulses, respiration and blood pressure
  • Demonstrate teamwork and raise the bar for patient care
  • Float to all units in the hospital such as Med-Surg, Critical Care, Psychiatry, Emergency Department or where needed
