Nursing Assistant - Nursing Support Float (Per Diem)
About The Position
Beth Israel Deaconess Milton is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Nursing Support department. Under the general management and supervision of the Nurse Manager, and/or direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant performs a variety of selected nursing activities. This position is per diem, with various shifts and hours available. A minimum of 16 hours per month is required, along with one winter holiday, one summer holiday, and one weekend shift per month. The role involves performing all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations, as well as departmental and hospital policies and procedures. This is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required.
Requirements
- Equivalent or the completion of high school
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program or if a nursing student, the completion of at least one clinical semester
- Basic Life Support certification with American Heart Association required

- Previous experience as a nursing assistant preferred
Responsibilities
- taking of vital signs
- collection of specimens
- documentation of specific portions of patient's medical record
- assisting patient with personal hygiene and body mechanics of standing, sitting and ambulation as necessary
- provides quality patient care, assisting with activities of daily living
- communicates effectively with staff, patients and their families where appropriate
- assist with transport of patients leaving the area when necessary
- weigh patients and records on patient record if necessary

Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
