Float Pool Nursing Assistant
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant works in the Float Pool and supports staffing across departments. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other licensed care team member, the Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and related support by performing selected nursing procedures and routine duties that assist medical and nursing personnel with the examination, treatment, and care of patients. This is a full-time, day-shift position. The role includes assistance with daily care and mobility, delegated clinical procedures, and support for nurses and physicians. The Nursing Assistant documents care, reports changes or concerns to nursing staff, and provides compassionate, respectful, and responsive patient care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification (SRNA or CNA), or successful completion of the first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with the level of education.
- Basic Life Support certification; applicants who do not already have it have 30 days from their hire date to provide completion of the certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, toileting, feeding, positioning, and mobility assistance.
- Assist with patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and ambulation.
- Perform delegated clinical procedures, including blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and venipuncture.
- Assist nurses and physicians with patient care and procedures.
- Document patient care and report changes or concerns to nursing staff.
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and responsive patient care.
