About The Position

We are seeking a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nursing Assistant, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele PCU Nursing Assistant. The Med-Surg/Tele/PCU Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. They play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery. Shifts Available: Nights Hours: 12-hour shifts: 7p - 7a Employment Type: Full Time Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

Requirements

Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate or within 6 months of hire and maintain current

Nice To Haves

Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate
Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physicians office

Responsibilities

Help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating
Take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation
Help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices
Ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning
Monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notifying the nursing staff
