3GH Ortho/Spine/Neuro/Tele- Nursing Assistant- Part time nightshift
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant works part-time on the night shift in the 3G & H unit, a 37-bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit specializing in orthopedic, neurological, and spine patients. The unit also serves as a secondary stroke unit and cares for general cardiac and telemetry patients. Patients arrive from the PACU, emergency department, interventional areas, and direct admissions from physician offices. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or another licensed care team member, the Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and related support by performing selected nursing procedures and routine duties to assist medical and nursing personnel with patient examinations, treatment, and care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of the first year of a nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
- Basic Life Support certification; applicants without it have 30 days from their hire date to complete it.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, toileting, feeding, and positioning.
- Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, weights, specimens, and other patient data.
- Perform delegated clinical procedures such as blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and venipuncture.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and procedures.
- Perform clerical and unit coordination duties, including managing patient charts and physician orders.
- Maintain supplies and equipment and help ensure a safe patient care environment.
- Respond to patient needs and emergency situations while providing compassionate, respectful care.
