About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant to join their Level 15 General Medical Unit at St Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. This role involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and contributing to the mission and goals of Essentia Health. The Nursing Assistant will work within job scope to meet regulatory requirements and ensure patient safety and comfort. Duties include assisting with personal hygiene, nutrition, comfort care, patient transfers, taking vital signs, recordkeeping, and reporting changes in patient condition. The goal is to maintain a safe and clean environment to promote healing.

Requirements

6 months of nursing assistant experience
Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
Enrollment into the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire
Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
BLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date
Completion of Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation course within 90 days of hire (for East Market, excluding WI)

Responsibilities

Providing direct care to patients
Serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort
Providing personal hygiene care
Assisting with nutritional needs
Providing comfort care and other assistance
Appropriately and safely transferring patients
Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process
