About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This role is on a 28-bed unit specializing in orthopedic and surgical care, located within an Orthopedic Specialty Hospital at the Sanford South University campus. The unit focuses on caring for patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgeries and total joint replacements, requiring close collaboration with physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers, and providers. It is described as a fast-paced unit with a culture of teamwork, offering opportunities for self-scheduling and closed campus staffing. Sanford Health has received multiple certifications and awards for its orthopedic care.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
  • If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry with current work eligibility.
