About The Position
The Nursing Assistant works on the 7 North East, a 33-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in bariatric, colon and rectal, urological, and gastrointestinal surgeries, as well as other general surgeries and medical disorders. The unit emphasizes high-quality, efficient, effective, and compassionate care, teamwork, and a positive and safe work culture. It is the designated Bariatric unit at Royal Oak Beaumont and holds MBSAQIP Bariatric Accreditation. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant provides care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. The role includes transporting patients, providing in-person or remote-video constant observation when indicated, performing receptionist and clerical tasks, and documenting care in the electronic medical record. This is a part-time day-shift position at Royal Oak Hospital, scheduled for 12 hours per week, with work hours of 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. one day per week and every third weekend.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
- Current CNA certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safely transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher; dispatch services and document services appropriately.
- Provide in-person or remote video observation for patients assessed as requiring constant observation to maximize safety.
- Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Document care provided in the electronic medical record.
