The Nursing Assistant (Grade S7, Job Code 8003) participates in the nursing process during the delivery of patient care. This role assists in providing nursing care to patients and collects data for assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Nursing Assistant participates in implementing a formal plan of care for the patient and adheres to safety and blood/body fluid policies and procedures. They are responsible for assessing personal and learning development needs and regularly updating knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the patient age served. The role also involves representing the hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality and presenting the hospital positively. Service excellence is a key component, ensuring positive interactions with patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers. Additional duties for Nursing Assistant II include demonstrating proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics and assisting in the orientation of other personnel to the unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
