About The Position

The Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician provides personal care and assists patients with activities of daily living, monitors and documents patient measurements and vital signs, and participates in hourly patient rounds. Benefits packages vary and are available to positions with a 0.6 FTE or higher.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved nursing assistant training course is required.
• Students enrolled in an accredited nursing program who have completed one of the hospital’s approved nursing courses in their program may be eligible; students must provide a college transcript showing successful completion of class requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience is preferred.
• RN students may be considered for Student Nurse Technician opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, including bathing, skin care, turning and positioning, and toileting.
• Assist patients with meals, ambulation, and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Obtain and document vital signs, and report abnormal results to the patient’s nurse.
• Measure and record intake, output, height, and weight.
• Participate in hourly patient rounds, assessing pain, positioning, toileting needs, placement of personal items and call light within reach, and whether VTE prophylaxis is in place.
