About The Position

NaphCare is seeking to hire Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians (NA/PCT) to join their team of medical professionals in the Eyman Facility in Florence, AZ. This role involves working under the supervision of a registered nurse alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. The position offers diverse duties such as assisting physicians with examinations, taking patient histories and vital signs, and supporting administrative tasks. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Must possess integrity, professionalism, and the ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct.
  • Must comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, and medication history.
  • Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight.
  • Document medical history including medications, treatment, and medical conditions.
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
  • Provide basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, and basic patient education and instructions.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses.
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments.
  • Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies.
  • Answer phones, emails, and other forms of communication.
