This is a Full-Time position for Nursing Assistants/Patient Care Technicians at 36 hours a week, with rotating day/night shifts or straight nights, on the 6 Main Medical Oncology unit. UPMC Shadyside is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital with ongoing research and education. The 6 Main unit specializes in a wide range of oncological diagnoses and is at the forefront of cancer research, primarily serving lymphoma patients and administering chemotherapy and biological treatments. Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians provide routine patient care and support department services under the direction of nurses and/or physicians. Patient care duties include ADLs, vital signs, simple dressings, EKGs, bladder scans, and specimen collections. UPMC offers a robust Nursing Support Career Ladder for continued growth and advancement, with title and salary determined by education and experience. The starting pay for a Nursing Assistant is $19.40. Patient Care Support training is required, with an assessment on day 1 to determine individual training needs, typically spanning three full days (Monday - Wednesday, 8am - 4:30pm).
