The Technical Partner provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN. Essential Job Functions include delivering direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care. They perform and/or assist with patient care needs as directed and assists patients with activities of daily living. The role involves responding to call lights, inquiries, and requests from patients and families in a timely manner. Collecting, documenting, and reporting ongoing patient care data as directed is also a key function. This includes measuring and/or documenting intake and output, including drainage, and obtaining daily weights when indicated. The Technical Partner obtains individual patient care equipment as directed and transports patients as directed. They are expected to make regular rounds to address patient needs and the physical environment, including purposeful hourly rounding. Additionally, they assist in the educational process to promote and maintain health, foster self-care, and improve outcomes, obtaining resources as needed and reporting patient readiness to learn to the RN/LPN. Maintaining a collaborative relationship with other healthcare providers to achieve desired outcomes and assure continuous flow of patient care is crucial. Communication of pertinent information regarding actual/potential problems to the professional/practical nurse, as well as during shift reports and transfers, is required. Participation in unit performance improvement activities designed to enhance the quality of patient care and customer services, including assisting in data collection and recommending modifications, is expected. The role demonstrates leadership by utilizing the behaviors inherent to the role, solving problems with critical thinking skills, and seeking assistance from supervisors when appropriate. Accountability for actions taken, functioning effectively as a resource person, and acting as a patient advocate are key aspects. The position may also involve acting as a preceptor/mentor for new hires and/or students, and assisting in maintaining/decreasing organizational/departmental costs. Furthermore, the Technical Partner assists in the department's compliance with state, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies, and supports continuous survey readiness. Adherence to the infection control process, including standard precautions, is mandatory to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting infections. Assisting with maintaining sufficient and proper supplies on an assigned unit, monitoring sterile supplies for expiration dates, and providing for patient safety in compliance with hospital and nursing department policies are also responsibilities. Utilizing two forms of patient identification before implementing any form of patient care, assuming appropriate code team roles, and responding effectively during emergency situations are required. Assisting in maintaining a safe and clean environment and completing proper specimen collection, identification, labeling, and delivery are also part of the role. Support for limited use of restraints in accordance with established standards and documentation according to policies is expected. Other duties as assigned.
