About The Position

This is a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) position in Adult Acute Care at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, specifically on the 2nd Floor of the Inpatient Unit (IU) in Elkin, NC. The unit is a 61-bed medical-surgical unit that specializes in the care of orthopedic and stroke patients. It serves a diverse population with a broad range of medical conditions and surgical needs, including post-operative recovery and acute medical management. This fast-paced environment is dynamic and offers an ideal setting for nurses to develop strong clinical skills while managing a variety of patient cases. It is suited for individuals who enjoy a high level of activity, adaptability, and the opportunity to care for a wide spectrum of patient populations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of an applicable State Approved Nurse Aide I course required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Performs special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility.
  • Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
  • Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
