About The Position
This position is for a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) in Adult Acute Care at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, specifically on the 2nd Floor of the Inpatient Unit (IU) of the Medical-Surgical unit. The unit is a 61-bed facility that focuses on the care of orthopedic and stroke patients. It caters to a diverse patient population with various medical conditions and surgical requirements, including post-operative recovery and acute medical management. This is a fast-paced environment that allows nurses to develop strong clinical skills while handling a wide array of patient cases. It is an ideal setting for nurses who thrive in active environments, enjoy adaptability, and want to care for a broad spectrum of patients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Completion of an applicable State Approved Nurse Aide I course required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands
- Basic computer skills
Responsibilities
- Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Performs special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
- Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
- Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
- Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
