About The Position
Baptist Health Walker Hospital is a 267-bed facility located in Jasper, recognized by The Joint Commission. It is committed to serving the diverse needs of its growing community by offering comprehensive and compassionate services including bariatrics, behavioral health, cardiac care, emergency room care, gynecology, neurology, obstetrics, orthopedics, physical therapy, advanced stroke treatment, surgical care, and urology. The Nursing Assistant I provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This role supports patients with daily care activities, monitors vital signs, and helps maintain a safe and comfortable environment. The Nursing Assistant will work closely with nurses, physicians, and the healthcare team to support patient recovery and deliver compassionate care to patients and their families.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant program OR Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – State of Florida OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Graduate of an approved school of nursing OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, or Medical Corpsman OR Internationally licensed medical personnel
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
- One year of healthcare experience within the past five years in a relevant healthcare setting (Experience may not be required for graduates of approved training programs)
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and elimination
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment
- Communicate patient concerns to nurses and healthcare staff
- Participate in patient rounding and shift handoff reports
- Respond to patient call lights and requests
- Transport equipment, supplies, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances)
