The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Dr. Phillips Hospital is a 48-bed unit that provides specialized care for patients who are too stable for the intensive care unit but require more monitoring and medical attention than can be provided on a standard floor. Patients treated in this unit include post-surgical patients, respiratory patients (COPD, Pneumonia, non-invasive ventilation), sepsis/infections, and chronic illness exacerbations (diabetes, kidney failure). PCUs bridge the gap between ICU and standard care units by providing telemetry, continuous monitoring, and specialized nursing for patients who are improving but still at risk for complications, ensuring a seamless transition in care and patient safety and recovery. Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital is recognized as a “Best Regional Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report and a “Best Place to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare. It is an award-winning, full-service medical/surgical facility serving southwest Orange County and Orlando’s tourist population since 1985, with 285 beds, a highly qualified team, and advanced technology in areas like diagnostic imaging, cardiovascular care, orthopedic care, surgical services, and emergency medicine. In 2025, the onsite Team Member Wellness Center opened, featuring a state-of-the-art fitness facility, a dedicated tranquility space, and wellness activities.
