The Nursing Assistant-Float Pool position at Advocate South Suburban Hospital is a part-time role within Nursing Clinical Operations. This role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. The Nursing Assistant will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). They will perform purposeful rounding, assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensure patient call lights are always within reach and answered promptly. Additionally, the role includes collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, and cleaning equipment and work areas. The position requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties that involve lifting and pushing/pulling, assisting with nutritional needs, and maintaining skin integrity. Under RN direction, responsibilities may extend to removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. The Nursing Assistant must practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, and demonstrate age-appropriate care knowledge.
