Requirements

Basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients
Meet psychosocial needs and physical needs
Perform duties within the nursing attendant’s scope of practice
Perform basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age
Notify appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pains
Communicate to the Registered Nurse (RN) any observed changes in patient status and responses
Assist with feeding patients and maintaining fluid balance with technique appropriate for patient’s age and physical condition
Provide explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient; answer questions within scope of practice
Communicate appropriately and clearly to Nursing Unit Director, Charge Nurse and/or team leader, co-workers and physicians
Provide care appropriate to condition and age of patient, including geriatric and general population
Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN
Be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
Interact professionally with patient/family and involve patient/family in the formation of the plan of care
Meet current documentation standards and policies and complete within shift
Demonstrate knowledge of disease entities

Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned, within the nursing attendant’s scope of practice
