The Nursing Assistant CNA will work on the 12T Bone Marrow Transplant unit at St. Luke’s. This is a full-time, 3rd shift position working 12-hour shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Some holidays are required. The role involves assisting RNs with daily patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, ambulation, and proper positioning. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The CNA will perform purposeful rounding, communicate patient needs to the RN, and participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes. They will ensure patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly, collect specimens, and perform point-of-care testing. Additional duties include completing errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment and work areas, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. The CNA will also assist with nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity, provide special patient supplies, and may be required to perform tasks such as removing IVs, providing post mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, is essential. The role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles.
