About The Position

This is a part-time, 3rd shift (NOC shift) position requiring 2 shifts per week, with varying days and start times between 7pm or 11pm. Shifts can be 8 or 12 hours, and weekend and holiday rotation is required. A minimum of 20 hours per week (.5 FTE) is necessary. The role involves assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, supporting nurses and doctors, observing patients for distress, and providing emotional support. The position is located within various inpatient units at St. Luke’s Medical Center, including Medical/Telemetry, Oncology, Surgical, Cardiac, Ortho/Spine, Cardiac Surgical, Respiratory, Neuro/Surgical, Medical/Surgical, Abdominal Transplant, and the Emergency Department (ED) where CNAs or EMTs work in the ED Tech role.

Requirements

High School Diploma or the equivalent
CNA (WI Registry)
Compassion and patience
Strong communication skills
Attention to detail
The ability to use equipment (gait belts, transfer devices, lifts, etc) to care for patients

Responsibilities

Assist with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Help patients with mobility: turning, repositioning, and transferring between beds and wheelchairs.
Serve meals and assist with feeding if needed.
Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
Report any changes in a patient’s condition to nurses or doctors.
Set up medical equipment and assist during some procedures.
Transport patients to different departments (e.g., radiology, surgery).
Restock supplies and maintain a clean, safe environment.
Monitor patients for signs of distress or changes in behavior.
Document care provided and communicate observations to the healthcare team.
Offer companionship and reassurance to patients.
Communicate with patients’ families and help them understand care routines.
Assist with post-operative care.
Monitor vital signs frequently.
Support nurses during procedures.
Transport patients to tests or surgeries.
