The Nursing Assistant (CNA) will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. This role involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as accurately documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The CNA will perform purposeful rounding, communicate observations to the RN, and assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. They will ensure patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly, collect specimens, and maintain nursing area stock and cleanliness. The position requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, assisting with nutritional needs, and maintaining skin integrity. Depending on unit requirements and RN direction, tasks may include removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. The role emphasizes practicing infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile/aseptic procedures, and requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care.
