About The Position

This position is for a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Ortho Trauma unit (10RT) at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The role is full-time, working three 12-hour day shifts per week with a weekend rotation. The Nursing Assistant will provide direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, perform special procedures, maintain a safe environment, and ensure effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. The role also emphasizes personal responsibility for performance and professional growth, providing age-appropriate care, and utilizing basic computer skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry in which the team member practices.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Performs special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility.
  • Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
  • Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
