About The Position

Our team is pleased to announce we are now accepting applications for on-call Nursing Assistants at the historic Washington Veterans Home in beautiful Port Orchard, Washington! "On-Call" is defined as positions where the work is intermittent in nature, is sporadic and does not fit a particular pattern. On-Call employees are utilized to support operational staffing needs. Shifts for on-call staff are scheduled on a rotational basis. The on call expectations for this position requires that staff be available for at least four (4) full shifts per month. This position is not eligible for telework. This position is eligible for "Supplement Basic Shift Premium" for 24/7 Facilities. Employees who are assigned to a facility that provides direct care to residents, patients, and/or clients and whose duties are required to be performed on location will receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. This shift premium does not apply to overtime hours. The supplemental basic shift premium shall expire on June 29, 2027. Requirements

  • Valid Washington state license to practice as a nursing assistant certified.
  • Must be proficient in the English language and be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Active status on Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) Registry.
  • Ability to perform data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to provide a positive living environment for residents relating to meeting psychosocial needs; follow written and verbal directions; document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the English language and be able to read, write and speak English.
  • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene care, toileting, eating, and assisting with the monitoring/feeding of meals and nourishments.
  • Assist with range of motion exercises, practice infection control techniques, and observe for and report changes in resident condition to licensed personnel.
  • Accurately obtain and record vital signs and other resident data.
  • Document intake and output records.
  • Perform basic nursing procedures such as applying anti-embolism stocking, applying creams or lotion to intact skin, etc.
  • Dispose of contaminated waste as appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and harmonious environment.
  • Clean bedpans, washbasins, urinals, commodes, beds, night stands, and over bed tables.
