About The Position

This is a multi-functional role requiring incumbents to be cross-trained to perform Unit Secretary duties as well as at least one other clinical support job, such as Patient Care Technician, Nursing Specialty Technician, or Certified Nursing Assistant. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, you will provide excellent customer service while performing clerical and administrative duties, monitoring and stocking supplies, and maintaining a safe work environment. Additional functions, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, may include data collection related to patient status, performing basic nursing procedures, monitoring and documenting patient responses, performing or assisting with treatments and procedures, and assisting with the maintenance of patient care equipment. At least 20% of your time will be spent in a clinical support role.

Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing assistant, patient care tech or nursing fundamentals class preferred.
  • No experience required.
  • In lieu of US training, will accept 6 months of clerical or healthcare related experience or completion of nursing fundamentals course.
  • CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform effective customer service skills, responding to patients, family, and staff with kindness, courtesy, professionalism, and efficiency.
  • Walk visitors to their destination and answer phones/intercoms in a friendly manner.
  • Participate in patient care rounding in collaboration with unit staff, including daily introductions to patients/families using AIDET.
  • Manage ordering, stocking, and inventory of equipment and supplies in collaboration with the nurse manager.
  • Perform unit operation responsibilities, including daily monitoring of supplies, ordering office and special supplies, monitoring PAR levels, and maintaining/organizing unit supply rooms.
  • Perform general reception and clerical duties at the nurse’s station, responding to patient calls via intercom or in person.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support, including data entry, taking meeting minutes, maintaining bulletin boards, and organizing downtime forms.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of a safe, clean, and functional physical environment in accordance with regulatory standards, including cleaning equipment.
  • Perform duties of a PCT/NST/Certified Nursing Assistant as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
