About The Position

This is a multi-functional role requiring incumbents to be cross-trained to perform Unit Secretary duties as well as at least one other clinical support job, such as Patient Care Technician, Nursing Specialty Technician, or Certified Nursing Assistant. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the individual will provide excellent customer service, perform clerical and administrative duties, monitor, order, and stock supplies, and maintain a safe work environment. Additional clinical support functions may include data collection related to patient status, performing basic nursing procedures, monitoring and documenting patient responses, performing or assisting with treatments and procedures, and assisting with the maintenance of patient care equipment. At least 20% of the time will be spent in a clinical support role.

Requirements

• Completion of a nursing assistant class.
• CNA certification
• No experience required.
• Current Tennessee CNA certification as proof of completed state required training at time of hire (in lieu of education requirement).

Responsibilities

• Performs effective customer service skills, responding to patients, family, and staff with kindness, courtesy, professionalism, and efficiency.
• Participates in patient care rounding in collaboration with unit staff.
• Manages ordering, stocking, and inventory of equipment and supplies in collaboration with the nurse manager.
• Performs unit operation responsibilities including daily monitoring of supplies, ordering office and special supplies, monitoring PAR levels, and maintaining/organizing unit supply rooms.
• Performs general reception and clerical duties at the nurse’s station, including responding to patient calls.
• Provides administrative and clerical support, including data entry, meeting minutes, maintaining bulletin boards, and organizing downtime forms.
• Coordinates the maintenance of a safe, clean, and functional physical environment in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Performs clinical support duties as a PCT/NST/Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
