The Nursing Assistant – Cardiac Care position is a full-time role (0.9 FTE) scheduled for 7pm to 7am, with rotating weekends and holidays. The role is based in the 48-bed Cardiac Care Unit at Advocate Sherman Hospital, a Level 2 Trauma center. The Nursing Assistant will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, ambulation, and special transfers. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The role involves collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require lifting and pushing/pulling. Additionally, the Nursing Assistant will assist with nutritional needs, maintain skin integrity, and may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and perform bladder scans under RN direction. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile/aseptic procedures, is essential. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles.
