About The Position

The UW Health Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program is a hospital-based training program for individuals seeking experience in patient care and preparation for certification as a Nursing Assistant through the State of Wisconsin. The program begins February 1, 2027. Participants assist members of a patient care team with direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures, including activities of daily living, patient transport, and stocking. Participants are expected to interact effectively with hospital staff, visitors, patients, and family members. After successfully completing the program and placement on the registry, participants will be interviewed and may transfer to hospital units with available Nursing Assistant positions. Applications are open October 26 through November 9, 2026. Applicants must submit a resume and Nursing Assistant Application Form; the posting also asks applicants to attach transcripts.

Requirements

• Formal acceptance into the UW Health Nursing Assistant Clinical Apprentice Program.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent, or at least 60 college credits and/or entering the junior year of college.
• One year of prior work experience.
• CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Participate in direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures to assist the patient care team in providing healthcare services.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
