About The Position

This role is critical in preparing future nurses for academic achievement and success on the NCLEX-RN exam. The specialist will partner with academic leadership, faculty, and staff to provide targeted support and individualized coaching for students throughout their program. This involves working one-on-one and in small groups to assess learning styles, reinforce key concepts, and design personalized remediation plans to build student confidence and clinical competence. Additionally, the specialist will support clinical learning labs and simulated patient care experiences to ensure students are prepared for real-world practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Active, unencumbered RN license
  • BLS CPR certification required
  • BLS CPR Instructor certification required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across phone, virtual, and in-person settings
  • Analytical thinking with effective problem-solving ability
  • High attention to detail, including proofreading accuracy
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative, knowledge-sharing mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred
  • 1+ year experience supporting classroom instruction or tutoring in an academic environment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess learning styles, identify strengths, and uncover opportunities for academic development with students individually and in small groups.
  • Provide individual or group tutoring to reinforce key concepts.
  • Participate in outreach to students with at-risk referrals.
  • Create and implement personalized remediation plans to support academic and professional success.
  • Provide academic support by demonstrating current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN and current nursing practice.
  • Assist in the creation of Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops.
  • Facilitate simulation-based experiences (SBE) and lab activities, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, set-up, and clean-up.
  • Assist in developing and implementing detailed, clinically based scenarios for simulated learning, including the use of high-fidelity patient simulators.
  • Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to ensure students have the opportunity to meet course objectives.
  • Staff open lab sessions and provide individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills.
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic partners, and staff to support student success.
  • Communicate and document students’ academic and co-curricular progress toward achievement of student and program learning outcomes to academic leadership.
  • Demonstrate service excellence through friendliness, courtesy, professionalism, effective communication, and a commitment to first-class service.
