About The Position

The Nursery Maintenance Lead oversees maintenance operations of the nursery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical and electrical background, good leadership skills and a proactive approach to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our equipment and facilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to work alone without close supervision.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs on a continuous basis and 100 lbs on occasion.
  • Be able to do continuous bending, stooping, and walking on a daily basis.
  • If operating a company vehicle must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Adequate leadership and communication skills to direct, schedule and coordinate personnel and services.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish required.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • 18 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in leading a maintenance team desired.
  • Ability to motivate and support team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred.
  • Experience with maintenance management software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Regularly inspect equipment to identify and address potential issues before they lead to significant downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical failures and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Lead the maintenance team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Escalate any performance or discipline concerns to the manager.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and supplies, ensuring availability for scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Implement effective inventory control systems to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular safety inspections and addressing any potential hazards.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team and across the facility.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and maintenance logs.
  • Utilize maintenance management software to track and report on maintenance performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in maintenance operations, implementing best practices and new technologies where applicable.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and reducing maintenance costs.
