The Nurse Technician is a nursing student employed by Summit Pacific Medical Center, who is currently enrolled in good standing in a nursing program approved by the commission and has not graduated or is a graduate of a nursing program approved by the commission who graduated within the last 30 days or within the past sixty days and has received determination from the secretary that there is good cause to continue the registration period, as defined by the secretary in rule. This role functions under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and performs specific nursing functions based upon current nursing education and demonstrated ability. The Nurse Technician is responsible for accurate and timely administration of medications (excluding chemotherapy, IV medications, and scheduled drugs), adhering to the 8 rights of medication administration, and evaluating the effects of medications, procedures, and treatments. They must notify the RN of any issues, changing patient needs, and document according to policies. The role also involves assisting with patient care, ensuring patient rights and dignity are safeguarded, and maintaining patient and facility safety.
