About The Position

The Nurse Technician provides patient care within the scope of practice under the supervision and direction of an Oklahoma State Licensed Nurse. The role uses the nursing process and follows hospital standards and procedures to help increase patients’ functional status. This position is on the Internal Medicine unit at the Yale Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is scheduled for full-time night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with availability required at the end of the week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of the Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Technician Training Program or a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
• 0–6 months of related experience; previous healthcare-related experience will be considered.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
• Ability to pay attention to detail when documenting numerical data.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care to an assigned group of patients.
• Perform procedural tasks and assist with activities of daily living, considering patients’ age and cultural, psychosocial factors.
• Observe and promptly and accurately report patients’ conditions, activities, and needs to a licensed nurse.
• Demonstrate specialty skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient population.
• Perform technical procedures listed on the unit-specific skills checklist as delegated by the Licensed Nurse.
• Document data, treatments, and procedures accurately and legibly according to unit and hospital policies.
• Promptly record intake and output, vital signs, and other data.
• Support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities.
• Attend mandatory in-services and meet unit educational standards.
• Complete variance reports accurately.
• Modify behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and unit areas; perform assigned housekeeping and unit duties.
• Transport patients, food, supplies, equipment, and specimens as necessary.
