About The Position

The Nurse Technician will provide non-invasive patient care, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and ensure quality in all aspects of their work. This role involves assisting with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, providing direct patient care for daily living activities, and supporting physicians with examinations and procedures. The technician will adhere to institutional policies and standards, manage equipment and supplies efficiently, and report any unusual incidents or changes in patient condition. Additionally, they will contribute to end-of-shift reports and participate in quality assurance programs. Other duties as assigned will also be completed.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory performance in non-invasive patient care.
  • Assistance provided in patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
  • Measures, collects, and records patient data (e.g., weight, vital signs) and reports symptoms, reactions, and changes in patients' condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities (e.g., bed bath, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, back rubs, linen freshening).
  • Provides general care (e.g., positioning patients, pre- and post-operative care, assisting with bed pan use) in a manner that demonstrates compassion and understanding for all patients.
  • Active participation in patient admission, transfer, and discharge by greeting patient and their families, orienting patients to their environment, taking patient vital signs, and completing necessary paperwork, is provided as needed, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assistance is provided to physicians with examination, treatments, and special tests and procedures as directed by a Registered Nurse.
  • Collects patient specimens in a caring manner and expediently transports specimens to the lab when necessary.
  • Procedures are performed in consistent with standards set forth by their school of nursing and level of nursing education completed under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Inter-departmental errands (e.g., transporting lab specimens, picking up patient medications from pharmacy) are run for nursing personnel in an expedient and professional manner.
  • Standards of nursing and the policies and procedures set forth by the institution are adhered to in an effort to enhance the quality and efficiency of hospital nursing services.
  • All equipment, supplies, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner.
  • Expediently reports any unusual incidents or observed changes in patient condition or behavior to appropriate personnel.
  • Input for end of shift reports and CIS documentation is provided.
  • Participates in unit quality assurance programs in an effort to enhance the quality and efficiency of unit services at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned are completed.
