About The Position
The Nurse Technician provides patient care to an assigned group of patients within the scope of practice and under the supervision and direction of an Oklahoma State Licensed Nurse. The role implements and utilizes the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and procedures to help increase patients’ functional status. This position is in the Pediatric Emergency Center at the Yale Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of the Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Technician Training Program or a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
- 0–6 months of related experience.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to be detail-oriented when documenting numerical data.

- Previous health care related experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care to an assigned group of patients using basic skills and knowledge.
- Perform procedural tasks and assist with activities of daily living while considering patients’ ages and cultural and psychosocial factors.
- Observe patients’ conditions, activities, and needs, and accurately and promptly report them to a licensed nurse.
- Demonstrate specialty skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient population.
- Perform technical procedures on the unit-specific skills checklist as delegated by the licensed nurse.
- Document data according to unit and hospital policy; legibly and accurately record treatments and procedures, and promptly record intake and output, vital signs, and other data.
- Support unit and hospital goals through performance-improvement and educational activities.
- Attend mandatory in-services and meet unit educational standards.
- Complete variance reports accurately.
- Modify behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
- Perform environmental activities and assigned housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, orderly patient room and unit.
- Complete assigned unit duties.
- Transport patients, food, supplies, equipment, and specimens as necessary.
