About The Position
The Nurse Technician provides patient care within the scope of practice under the supervision and direction of an Oklahoma State Licensed Nurse. The role uses the nursing process and follows hospital standards and procedures to help increase patients’ functional status. This position is in General Neurology at the Yale Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is ECB status, requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department, with limited benefit offerings. Flexibility to meet unit needs is required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of the Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Technician Training Program or a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
- CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
- 0–6 months of related experience; previous health care-related experience will be considered.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
- Attention to detail when documenting numerical data.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to an assigned group of patients using basic skills and knowledge.
- Perform procedural tasks and assist with activities of daily living, considering patients’ age and cultural and psychosocial factors.
- Observe and report patients’ conditions, activities, and needs to a licensed nurse accurately and promptly.
- Demonstrate specialty skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient population.
- Perform technical procedures on the unit-specific skills checklist as delegated by the licensed nurse.
- Document data according to unit and hospital policy, including treatments, procedures, intake and output, vital signs, and other data.
- Support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities; attend mandatory in-services and meet unit educational standards.
- Complete variance reports accurately and adjust behavior or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
- Maintain a clean and orderly patient room and unit, complete assigned unit duties, and perform housekeeping as assigned.
- Transport patients, food, supplies, equipment, and specimens as necessary.
